First step is for folks to start managing their own energy -- and learning to balance expenditure with regular renewal. Second step is to get employers to recognize that they'll get more value from employees by better meeting their core needs: sustainability (physical); security (emotional); self-expression (mental) and significance (spiritual).

Re: How To Renew Your Energy.

Wow! I'm so honored to be mentioned on your blog!! My favorite time of the Affiliate Summit was also that night of chocolate shakes with you, Jen and the "infamous banana desirous" Todd. What a great exchange of ideas and attitudes! There is nothing that replenishes me more than that kind of communion of souls and support. Thank you in advance for the book...I will definitely write about it!!

Re: How To Renew Your Energy.

I think you make a good point about clutter and how I might find something distracting vs. you finding the same thing inspirational. I agree. We just need to know what works.

Re: How To Renew Your Energy.

Sounds like a coaching prog or info product in the making.

Re: How To Renew Your Energy.

This is a great piece to get started with: http://pobronson.com/Tao.htm

On the biz front, I liked "The First $20m is always the hardest".

on the non-fiction front, I liked "What should I do with my life?"

Re: How To Renew Your Energy.

how do i renew? I hadn't really thought of it until now... but I think I renew by tackling something new and different - From the outside perspective I'm sure I look like I am moving in 10 directions... really I'm constantly re-engaging the creative outlets from various angles so I don't become stale or moldy - maybe i'm really just a loaf of bread. Seriously, I need to keep drawing in new things to think about or I end up going kind of limb and thats when the energy drains.

When I was working on client projects, I'd often create a hypothetical project to work on as well - with different criteria and boundries so I wouldn't find myself in the usual overly redundant rut many of us get stuck in. Now, I just start projects - So i often have a design project, a coding project, and a craft project I'm working on along with whatever else. I have to have tactile and logic working at the same time the creative daydreaming is or something falls off the track. So renewing usually involves new subject matter or medium.

reading below, clutter for me has an absolute purpose and to some degree is necessary in my sanity - the average "clutter" is often times inspiration for me. I need the obscurities and out of place distractions to keep me moving and thinking beyond the typical view... it's an ongoing word association game. I spy a scrap of paper -> need to make a card -> oh valentine's day is coming -> penguins... with hearts -> candy heart-> hey sexy -> oh funny joke -> pink doily-> dollies-> where's Lauryn-> lunch time-> pb& j -> oh, look, theres that peanut butter loves jelly doodle... and then I start all over.. completing one path of thoughts, renew and begin again.

Re: How To Renew Your Energy.

Hi Andrew,

"Decluttering" is definitely a key concept in energy management. Clutter = distractions. Since focusing is our objective, we must avoid distractions.

I think Po Bronson's books have been on my To Read list for way too long without getting to one of them. You've prompted me to move one of them up on the priority list!

Lisa

Re: How To Renew Your Energy.

Appreciate the comment!

So, how do YOU renew?
